In Part 3 of The History of Jazz Piano, Richard will show how the reaction against the frenzy of bebop led to the ‘Cool’ school and how the seminal recordings of Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck prompted a more melodic approach to improvisation. Again, Richard will demonstrate these styles on any tunes suggested by the audience, and will pay tribute to another ‘one-off’, Oscar Peterson.
