Join us for an evening of toe tapping music. Dunfermline Strathspey and Reel Society has been entertaining audiences in Fife and abroad for over 35 years. We play for audiences in a variety of settings such as care home, churches, community centres and theatres. We play mostly Scottish Traditional music but also some other genres. We will be joined by friends from across Scotland, Due to fire regulations we can only sell 70 tickets and for the last few years they have been sold out. To avoid disappointment, get yours early.
Our guest artistes this year are:- Quattro Voci
We are an “a capella” quartet singing popular songs, with no accompaniment, only our voices. We met over 10 years ago when we joined the Clydesdale Bank Choir in Glasgow. Our first performance, as a quartet, was at an internal talent competition where we sang a challenging arrangement of Somewhere from West Side Story. A somewhat intimidating experience that taught us to be very wary of microphones and sound engineers! Since then we have sung at various locations across the central belt (from Care Homes to Palaces) raising money for charity and supporting good causes.
Singing without accompaniment can be challenging, but not as challenging as getting together to practise. Helen, our soprano, lives in East Kilbride; our alto, Joy, lives in Kilmarnock; David, tenor, is from Lenzie and Rod, bass, is from Bo’ness. In spite of the distances, we meet up when we can.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
