We are delighted to be welcoming the Newhaven Community Choir to the museum for two special performances in our awesome and atmospheric Zulu Gallery, inspired by our current exhibition 100 Species, curated by Edinburgh Shoreline - https://www.scotfishmuseum.org/blog/post.php?s=2024-03-22-100-species
The choir, founded in spring 2014, with funds raised by Duncan Bremner of Citizen Curator, connects 'people and place through the joy of song'. Duncan's inspiration was to revive a singing group in Newhaven which was once known for both the Fishwives Choir and the Fishwives themselves. The new version of the choir was launched under Jed Milroy’s musical direction and has performed in several locations around Newhaven as well as The National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh and Dreel Halls in Anstruther, combining song, art and spectacle!
Newhaven Community Choir is a friendly and informal group and welcome anyone who would like to sing with them.
