Teacher, participant or group… We welcome all ideas and would love to hear from you.
Established in October 2011 when a group of local artists renovated the former Station House at Ladybank Station in Fife and set up a working space for creative activity and endeavour. Currently, we are a non-profitmaking voluntary organisation, managed by a committee of eight volunteers.
Our purpose is to stimulate interest and encourage participation in the arts, design and craft. We welcome everyone, whether they are young or not-so-young, experienced practitioners or beginners, teachers or learners. We aim primarily to involve our local community in our projects, but also to attract enthusiasts from further afield.
The Arthouse space is available, at a very reasonable rate, for hire by those wishing to run classes or events. Key activities are wide-ranging. They include classes in art, design and craft, whether weekly, in one-off weekend workshops or in week-long summer courses. An increasing number of people are using the space for small conferences, meetings or training events, and numerous very successful ‘pop-up’ exhibitions by local artists have taken place. We welcome enquiries from those looking for an inspiring space in which to run events or workshops, and we are open to suggestions for other creative activities.
The Arthouse is a lovely, light-filled space, with a very special atmosphere. The building is B-listed and retains many of its original Victorian features. There are two good-sized studios, one smaller one and a fully-equipped kitchen. In almost all cases, those hiring the premises have the use of the whole building. In good weather, people can spill out into the adjacent garden space and use it for inspiration. When it is colder, they can work next to a cosy log fire. We have a good range of drawing equipment for use by participants and we are wifi enabled.
The Arthouse is reached very easily by public and private transport, and there is good parking in the adjacent areas. Ladybank itself is a very attractive, typical Fife village, set in the middle of an area of outstanding natural beauty and historical interest, with Falkland and St Andrews nearby.
