We are a local, independent garden centre based at Hillend, just beside Dalgety Bay. Our owner, the appropriately named Stan Green, has worked in horticulture for over 40 years. His passion for plants and gardens and the inspiration they have given has never diminished, if anything it is getting stronger. Stan has campaigned to raise the profile of horticulture to the government and the public. He has worked in many initiatives including Scotgrow, Garden For Life and especially The Calyx – a project to develop a National Garden for Scotland.
Stan was the on the Board of the Horticultural Trade Association (HTA) for over 8 years, serving as Chairman for 2 year. In 2017 Stan was awarded the Scottish Horticultural Medal from the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society’s (RCHS) for services to Scottish Horticulture.
Stan has always ensured the ethos of The Plant Market is to make gardening accessible and exciting for everyone. The team have a love of all things gardening and nature related. Each member of the Plant Market team can advise you on the best plants for each season, soil type and weather. As you would expect, our stock is seasonal so there's always something new coming into the Plant Market for you to discover.
We have always tried to ensure we are a sustainable business. In addition to our pot recycling centre, we are now stocking eco-friendly garden pots and watering cans.
Whether you’re a novice gardener or a green fingered gardening wizard, we will be delighted to support you in your quest for gardening fun!
