The initiative focuses on encouraging visitors to explore the great outdoors and embrace their spirit of adventure responsibly and safely to preserve Scotland’s renowned natural landscape.
The collaboration – which follows the launch of Vango’s ‘Made To’ campaign, where the brand promotes the idea of creating experiences and memories that can be re-lived and enjoyed over and over – is centred around the organisations’ shared motto of preserving the outdoor environment so that it can be enjoyed by future generations. With an emphasis on caring for nature, the collaboration encourages visitors and locals to respect their surroundings, leave no trace, and reduce their impact on local communities.
Speaking on the news, Vango’s Senior Marketing Manager, Katy Buchan, commented: “We are very excited to join efforts with VisitScotland to promote sustainable camping and responsible tourism. As a brand deeply rooted in the Scottish outdoors, we understand the importance of preserving our natural environment, and through this work, we hope to inspire travellers to explore Scotland’s beautiful landscapes while also protecting them for future generations.”
The collaboration will involve the sharing of expert tips as the brands work together to educate and inspire adventurers to embrace responsible tourism.
Cat Leaver, Head of Brand and Global Marketing at VisitScotland said: “It is no secret that visitors are drawn to Scotland for our iconic scenery and natural beauty, however with this comes a collective sense of responsibility to help protect what makes us so special. Our vision is for Scotland to be a globally recognised responsible destination. We want to inspire and influence visitors to make sustainable choices at all stages of their journey.
“A Scottish brand with values aligned with our own, we are excited to collaborate with Vango to help spread this message further and reach new outdoor enthusiast audiences. Exploring responsibly is not only good for the planet, but also good for the soul enhancing our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. If we all recognise the impact our trips can make, and take positive steps to protect our natural environments, then we can preserve these incredible experiences for generations to come.”
The collaboration further reinforces Vango’s commitment to sustainability, underpinning the brand’s ‘Spirit of Sustainability’ ethos, and builds upon its rich history of eco-friendly decisions - from product innovation which has resulted in a durable and reliable range that has been made to re-use, to key brand projects and initiatives such as the brand’s renowned ‘Spares and Repairs’ and ‘Camping Recycled’ services.
The partnership also builds on Visit Scotland’s work as the first national tourism organisation to sign up to ‘Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency’, embedding responsible tourism across all touch points. This has primarily been achieved by influencing visitors through its marketing activity, working with travel trade and tourism businesses to develop sustainable experiences, and working with partners to drive change, such as ‘Tourism Cares’, as the first European destination to feature on the brand’s Meaningful Travel Map.
