The Jacobite court in Italy was both dramatic and tragic. The lecture will follow the dying hopes of the Jacobite cause, looking at the Jacobite relationship with the Papacy, the intrigues and spies, interactions with Italians, and the relationships with the numerous Grand Tourists visiting from Britain.
Patricia Andrew is curaor of museums and galleries in Eastbourne, Chelmsford and Durham, and Deputy Director of the Scottish Museums Council. Patrica is a heritage consultant to a wide range of organisations including the National Galeries of Scotland and their Friends, and on cruises. Her publications include articles in the Apollo Magazine, The Burlington Magazine, Country Life and The Walpole Society's Annual Volume. Her book "A Chasm in Time: Scottish War Art and Artist of the Twentieth Century" (2014) wone the Saltire prize for Scottish History Book of the Year in 2015.

Our membership fee for our 2023/24 lecture series is £55 for a single membership and £100 for joint membership.
Other events are optional extras.
All are welcome.
Visitors to a lecture are invited to leave a suggested donation of £8.
